Today marks the 500th consecutive week we’ve delivered this video coaching message. Each one was different, and the locations have spanned the globe. So, From Elko, Nevada, let’s look at the impact of consistent effort… mine and yours.
When it comes to consistency, 500 is a big number! About a decade of weekly promises kept to you and to me. But really, is it any more significant than any other number: Like 237? Or 34? Or even 1? With time the number actually gets less important, because it’s not a battle of will, but an expression of identity.
Think of the habits you’ve honed through the years. For your work and better health, stronger relationships. spiritual devotions, and learning habits. In each area, the aim isn’t to “win the battle” but to transcend it. We play the long game from the start.
Not that it gets easy, or without complication. The difference is it’s no longer optional. It’s not what you envision or intend. It’s what you embody. Not an obligation, it’s just who you are. You see, consistency changes you.
And it does get easier. In this case, through the years I’ve learned a lot about video, sound, delivery, lighting. We’ve honed a process and invested significant time and money to raise the standards. But why?
It’s a great way to stay in touch with clients and those who’ve been in my speaking audiences. And that frequent contact has led to many new clients and collaborations. So let me know if you have an upcoming event.
But honestly, the greatest reward has been more personal – people telling me these messages have helped them through hard times, new opportunities, and important conversations with co-workers, friends, or loved ones, because consistency inspires.
It feels great to have created a quantity of quality work and an ongoing commitment to stay curious and creative, deeply invested in growing with you. So at 500, while we could call it done, I think I’d rather say, until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose.
