How do you know when you’re making a bad trade? From Herndon, Virginia, let’s make better decisions with confidence.
Life requires decisions, adjustments, and trade offs of time, money, and attention. You can’t be two places, pursue both choices, or entertain endless options, indefinitely.
Urgency tells us, move now! You’re running out of time. The game has changed. All bets are off. When we feel rushed and confused, we may make emotional, bad trades, failing to think them through.
When unhurried we may postpone important decisions because we can. Here, you may be making bad trades of opportunity cost, forestalling momentum you can enjoy and build on.
It’s your move. So let’s decide, first answering, does this require any of the following?
1. Compromised values. Does any part of this violate your principles?
2. Restricted growth. Would saying “yes” here keep you from reaching your ultimate goal?
3. Damaged relationships. Does this jeopardize a connection to someone you care about?
4. Unacceptable risk. Is the potential downside, however unlikely, something you couldn’t handle?
If you said yes to one or more questions it’s likely a bad trade and easy “no-go” decision. However, if you said no to all, chances are good you can decide and move forward with confidence. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose.
