When you think of the future, do you expect obstacles or opportunities? From Long Beach, CA, let’s adjust expectations to improve our outcomes.
Obstacles and opportunities aren’t opposites but traveling companions and inseparable allies. The question is, when they walk in the room together, which do you first recognize and embrace? And which do you expect will be the driving force for your life?
How you answer that question largely determines what you most experience: adventure and abundance or fear and struggle. That’s not hyperbole but reality, and why I urge you to expect opportunity.
- The opportunity to learn something new and useful.
- An opportunity to challenge yourself and grow.
- The opportunity to help someone or make a positive impact.
- Opportunity to elevate your career, your passion, and your life.
This new default changes you in three significant ways:
1. Expectation promotes preparation. When you expect opportunity is coming, even not knowing exactly how, you do more of what’s necessary to be ready, growing as you go.
2. Expectation enhances recognition. If you expect life to offer options and open doors, you’ll see them with increasing clarity.
3. Expectation eases acceptance. If you expect opportunities, then recognize them, you’ll more naturally accept them in flow. If it resonates, say yes, then welcome what’s next.
You’ll begin to see obstacles as necessary and incidental – just part of the process. You’ll live with anticipation and curious excitement, and that energy attracts more invitations. So lean in, expect opportunity, and you will be Off Balance On Purpose.
