Today I’m coming to you from Hidden Hills Golf Club, in Jacksonville. I’m here on a work trip, but this moment? This round of golf? It’s not just a break from the schedule—it’s a lifeline.
In my book Off Balance On Purpose, I teach the importance of connecting the spheres of life that matter most: work, relationships, health, spiritual growth and personal interests. With intention, these spheres can align in a way that’s not only fun, but deeply meaningful.
I’m here with my cousin Brannon, who’s really more like a brother. We share a passion for golf and throughout the year orchestrate meet ups to connect. We’ve shared many great laughs, great courses—and even better conversations about life, family and faith. It’s relationship-building, yes. But it’s also exercise, reflection, and renewal. And the name Hidden Hills feels symbolic. Because so often, life’s most important aspects and moments aren’t obvious. They’re hidden. Tucked behind a busy schedule. Behind the next hill of responsibility. Behind the false idea that work and life are separate.
When we connect what matters, by strengthening lifelines between the spheres, we unlock uniqueness and improve stability through change and challenge. We find greater purpose, alignment, and joy.
So the takeaway today isn’t about golf. It’s to look for and prioritize your life lifelines – the hidden, or overlooked opportunities to connect your passions, relationships, health, work, and spirit. Because your life terrain isn’t flat. But when you move forward with intention you may realize those “hidden hills” reveal your favorite moments and more of your true self. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose.
