Are your “margins” for time, money, and life feeling tight? From Edison, New Jersey, let’s access abundance.
I’m speaking this week for a leading cooperative of independent grocery stores. Amazing people. Family owned, generational businesses operating in complex and challenging conditions, facing fierce competition and constant change, all in a business with the tightest of profit margins: 1 – 2 percent. And they’re growing!
Let’s face it. We’re all experiencing higher prices and “tight margins” of our own. Even when doing well, it can seem insufficient to keep up, much less get ahead. The challenge: Do more with less. The reality: Do more with more, like my client. More clarity. More creativity. More community.
1. More clarity. When constricted by dollars, days, or minutes, we reveal what we most value. Go deep to answer, “What matters MOST to you? And what does that clarity require?”
2. More creativity. Clarity gets to the essence. Creativity gives you options. When margins are tight, get flexible, asking, “How can what you have be more than enough?”
3. More community. When stretched and discouraged it’s easy to isolate. Instead, connect to those who can understand and assist you, and those you can help. There’s surplus in synergy.
When you’re alone and focused on what you don’t have, your reality will be “lack,” and your options, limited. So, use your constraints to drive clarity, creativity, and community, so you will gain margin for more. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose.
