Soundtrack for Success

Everybody deserves a motivational musical mantra:

a personal soundtrack that will pick you up when you are feeling down, or pump you up before your workday or big moment!

That’s why I produced this song. Not only will it provide you a motivational, musical BOOST, but it will also keep you connected to a mindset and plan of action to remain Purposeful, even in the midst of Off Balance Moments.

Enjoy it with my compliments! Load it on your iPod or smartphone, burn a CD for your car, or add it to your “favorites,” and feel free to share your comments below (including ideas for the upcoming music video).

With encouragement always,

Dan

OBOP Theme Song Lyrics

If you’re feeling overwhelmed,
Confused and out of touch.
If you’re stressed ’cause life’s a mess
And it’s too much.

You are longing for some peace, control and resolution.
May I propose a slightly unconventional solution?
You’ve been told that finding balance is the key to satisfaction,
But I suggest instead that you adopt a plan of action.

A new philosophy for you and me!

Off Balance, On Purpose
Get clear on your intentions and your dreams.
Off Balance, On Purpose
Success and happiness are closer than it seems.

Amplify your life by plugging into deeper meaning.
You’ll be prone to positivity once you are forward leaning.
It’s time to take control and make a choice
Stand up, express yourself, and share your voice!

Off Balance, On Purpose
Stretch your mind and your ability.
Off Balance, On Purpose
Initiate the changes that you see.

You’ve been told that finding balance is the key to satisfaction,
But I suggest instead that you adopt a plan of action
Embrace uncertainty. A new philosophy for you and me.

Off Balance, On Purpose
Get clear on your intentions and your dreams, yeah.
Off Balance, On Purpose
Success and happiness are closer than it seems.
Off Balance, On Purpose
Stretch your mind and your ability.
Off Balance, On Purpose.
Success and happiness are closer than it seems.

  • Bill Hamilton says:

Great!! Very motivational and attention getting lyrics.

  • Andrea Blake says:

Calling it the “OBOP” – Very uplifting and meaningful!

Suggestion for the video: I see you dancing and doing your acrobatics on a glass floor with the camera looking up at you (like the 70’s show).

    Go ahead, make our day!

  • dan says:

Love the idea with the glass floor, Andrea! I’ll keep you posted on the progress.

  • Cindy says:

Made me want to get up and dance! I especially like the line “Stretch your mind and your ability.” A great sunny treat today on this very gray day in Michigan.

  • Tak Kurtz says:

Nice Dan…who are the singers? Did Philip or you work on the music?

  • dan says:

Tak, Here’s how it came together:
I had an idea for the song, and a general feel of the groove and melody. Then, on a flight one day, I just started writing the lyrics and it all came together in my head. I took these ideas to my buddy Mark Coughlin, who leads the phenomenal band, Ruperts Orchestra (www.ruperts.com) and runs a recording studio in Atlanta. Then Mark, Tom Grose (remember Tom Grose and the Varsity?) and I worked on the music and arrangement. Tom wrote all the charts, including a 6 part horn section that is outrageous. We worked with incredible musicians and Philip Solomon served as a great consultant along the way, from LA. We took our time and did it right, and every part of the process was a blast, working with great people with enormous talent. I had the pleasure of helping shape the effort from beginning to end, but the credit really goes to Mark, and all those involved.

  • Thomas Buffington says:

Great job from everyone involved. I still have not been able to pick your voice out of the singers though. Thanks for the inspirational song and looking forward to the video.

  • Ed Witowski says:

A very uplifting tune Dan. Another great project that I really enjoyed. Congratulations
    to everyone involved.

  • Mark Coughlin says:

This was a truly collaborative effort with many awesome players involved. It all started with a great concept and lyrics by Dan, so everything else just flowed from that. I think this was the funnest project I have been involved with recent memory!

  • dan says:

Oh no, Thomas, I am definitely NOT one of the singers. We relied strictly on the professionals for that! I did, however, play some of the percussion on the track.

  • Karen Wright says:

Awesome! I am still smiling. You are very gifted and blessed!

  • Andrew Gillan says:

    nice work Dan…
I picture in my mind you all over the world in off balance situations with “OBOP” strategically placed somewhere in the scenes

Thanks for the positive change you are making to the people of the world..

    Blessings to you..!

  • Joyce Howard says:

Nice song and arrangement! How about offering an mp3 version as well. Your m4a is for iPods but some of us use other sound devices and formats as well. Thanks.
