When fear hits, it can stop you in your tracks. You lose confidence, so your knowledge, skills, and options are limited. From Moreno Valley, California, let’s turn fear into FLOW.
We live in a time of technical chaos, meaning transformation is happening simultaneously across nearly all systems, industries, and technologies. The exactness of what’s coming, or what it will require of you, is unknowable. Now, this reality can paralyze you, inducing fear and anxiety. Or, it can propel you and shape you for the better.
Unlike fear, flow finds a way forward, adapting to disruptions like water off these mountains after a rain. Water doesn’t insist on a path. It adjusts to obstacles and optimizes for efficiency. We can do the same, embodying these four principles of FLOW.
1. Flexibility. When you’re rigid on requirements and expectations, progress can be slow and frustrating. Instead, how might you flex with your circumstances?
2. Learning. Maintain a beginner’s mind, asking what am I learning now? What might I learn next?
3. Openness. Particularly with regard to people, stay open to others’ perspectives, stories, and contributions. Instead of seeking to gain, strive to serve.
4. Wonder. Stay curious and expect surprises of both challenge and delight.
Finally, FLOW with integrity. Don’t bend your values or personal standards for shortcuts, letting fear cause you to compromise. So, set your future vision, compelling goals, and meaningful pursuits. And use the unpredicable when it arrives to your advantage. Until next week stay Off Balance On Purpose.
