It can be hard to know or articulate what you desire, and that’s totally normal. This week’s video will help you get from confusion to clarity in with three great questions.
Do you know what you want? Really? Well, let’s help you answer that question, from Starkville, Mississippi.
Life is complex and confusing which promotes a “wait and see” attitude. But good things don’t just come to those who wait. They come to those who know what they want and move towards it.
What do you want? That question seems simple, then triggers other questions: What do I want for me or those I care about? What’s actually possible or probable? After all, my wants should be realistic. So many things… or at least I used to. What do I want now?
A confused buyer doesn’t buy. A confused artist struggles. A confused entrepreneur wastes effort, time and money. And if you’re confused you can’t motivate yourself or “sell” your ideas to others. So how do you get to clarity? For starters, answer these three questions:
1. What do you have to give? You have skills and experience, and you were born for a reason with specific qualities and gifts to contribute. If you can’t see them, ask those who know you best.
2. What do you hope to gain? Are you striving for status? Money? Recognition? Or is there a deeper satisfaction you can imagine, articulate, and aim for?
3. Who will you become? Ambition isn’t just the prize at the end. It’s the transformation that happens along the journey. What would you want that to look like?
The targets will likely change as you learn more about yourself and what’s required. Let go of the exactness of outcomes and know that when you aim higher, you grow faster… if that’s what you want. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose.
