How would your life change if you could stop solving problems? Let’s dive into that thought, from Orange County, CA.
If you orient yourself to solving problems you get more problems to solve. Because you’re good at it, it becomes part of your identity. You may even become a professional problem solver.
First, what’s a problem? One definition: “A matter or situation regarded as unwelcome and harmful and needing to be dealt with and overcome.” But problems are never done. Deal with and overcome one of them, and there’s another on deck. See, the aim isn’t to solve problems, but transcend them by creating more of what you want.
When you elevate your goals, values, and self-perception, old problems may suddenly seem ridiculous. They slip away as new “problems” present themselves.  And within those, you then orchestrate opportunities.  Problems and opportunities actually co-exist. So instead of “regarding them as unwelcome,” welcome them, or reject them entirely.
When presented a problem ask, “what’s the opportunity here?” Does it offer something to learn, someone to help, or a chance to use your best talents? I don’t know. That’s for you to figure out. Or what if you could just reject it and bypass this problem altogether?
So resist the urge or impulse to solve your problems, and instead, see the bigger, inspiring opportunity that’s along for the ride. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose.
