What is it that stops us from going after our true desires? Our greatest loves, ambitions, and contributions? A fear of failure? A lack of belief? Or maybe it’s that we don’t think it will be worth the time and trouble. Here’s a different take on that thought, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The ocean is relentless and eternal. But we measure our lives in units of time. Hours, days, weeks, months, years. Sunk costs of existence, never to be reclaimed. We’re reluctant to overcommit. But, in retrospect, we realize how much time we’ve wasted or washed away.
And while we want to avoid trouble, it will find us. Steer clear of conflict and face bigger future confrontations. The easy way often leads to the hard way. And let’s face it, humans are inherently problematic. The question is will you accept the trouble you’ve been assigned, or tackle the trouble you design?
Maybe instead of saving time and avoiding trouble – or effort – we should generously spend time while choosing trouble. Splurge your hours on what matters most, and disrupt the easy or automatic.
Ultimately, you get what you pay for. Spend the time. Trouble yourself. Earn your quality relationships, meaningful accomplishments, physical, mental and spiritual fitness. Or don’t, and what you get, you’ll pay for.
Let’s be less concerned about what’s required and more in tune with what’s inspired. Do this, and it will be well worth your time and trouble. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose.
